High Tea To Celebrate Ballarat Seniors

Tiered cake stands, cucumber sandwiches and Devonshire Teas were on the menu at James Thomas Court in Sebastopol as residents celebrated the Victorian Seniors Festival in style with a grand High Tea.

Ballarat Health Services’ Executive Director of Aged Operations, Jodie Cranham, said the event was one of many held at Ballarat Aged Care during the month of October as part of the Seniors Festival.

“Ballarat Aged Care is the region’s largest aged care provider, with over 450 permanent residents living across 10 homes, and we wanted to celebrate every one of them during the Seniors Festival this October,” Jodie said.

“Most of our residents spent many years living in Ballarat before transitioning into aged care, raising families here and contributing to the community is countless ways - and they continue to do so. All our homes support charities, with residents donating handmade or purchased gifts and goods for people in need, both in Australia and internationally. We think this deserves to be celebrated!”

“Across our homes, residents were treated to a range of extra events, activities and outings as part of our Seniors Festival Program. Each home had its own schedule of activities planned into its exciting lifestyle program, so it was great to see even more of our residents out and about celebrating their senior years!” she said.

Ballarat Aged Care has been providing aged care to the Ballarat community for over 150 years. It has 10 aged care homes throughout the region and offers continuum of care, with services ranging from in-home care and respite to residential aged care and dementia and cognitive impairment care. Registered Nurses always oversee the care in its homes, and where care needs are the highest, all care staff are qualified nurses.

James Thomas Court hosted High Tea from 2.30pm to 3.30pm on Wednesday 11 October 2017. James Thomas Court is located at 117 Morgan Street Sebastopol.
