Coronavirus Information Update (March 24th, 2020)

Restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19

As you are aware the community is continually receiving advice on the need to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Ballarat Health Services takes the safety of our residents and staff seriously. The best way to protect your health and safety is to keep the virus out of your Home.

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to have no visitors to our facilities at this time and external services will be limited from 25th March at 9am. These restrictions will be monitored closely on a daily basis, in line with the State and Commonwealth Government advice.

We will compassionately take individual circumstances into consideration as we understand that the COVID-19 situation is at times distressing. Palliative care residents will always be an exception, although our aim will be to maintain social distancing.

External lifestyle activities and social outings will cease for residents. Social distancing rules for internal activities have been implemented.

In addition to the above measure, we are screening and monitoring staff health and well-being to ensure that they are fit to provide excellent care.

We fully appreciate and respect the strong emotional bonds and important role family and friends play in the lives of residents, however, our first priority must continue to be the health and safety of all people in our care and staff during this time. We encourage you to maintain contact by phone or social communication apps where available and appropriate.

BHS understands that it is a difficult time for everyone and want to ensure that we are working together to protect the health and well-being of our residents.

If you have any specific concerns regarding our response or any other issue, please discuss this with the facility Nurse Unit Manager.
